Why I’ll Never Buy Mayo Again

homemade mayo

I’ve been fiddling around with the idea of making homemade mayo for a couple of years now. Not only am I a procrastinator, but I was always under the impression that it was difficult and easy to screw up.

Due to my husband frequently nagging reminding me that we need to buy mayo…and me either 1) forgetting to put it on the grocery list or 2) not wanting to spend $6-7 on the all-natural stuff, I finally gave in and made some last night.

All I can say is, “WOW!”. This homemade mayo did not have a strong taste like the store-bought stuff. It was also incredibly easy to make – thanks to this wonderful recipe (and video tutorial) from Melissa @ The Clothes Make the Girl.

Another healthy, homemade alternative to add to our forever growing list. And it’s soooo cheap to make. 🙂

Go ahead, give it a try! Here’s a link to the recipe I used: http://www.theclothesmakethegirl.com/2010/06/03/the-secret-to-homemade-mayo-patience/

A Day at the Museum

We finally made it to the Museum of World Treasures today. We’ve been talking about going for quite a few years and today was customer appreciation day, so we got in for $3 each. Woohoo!

Let me just say that, while we had a great time and saw lots of fascinating things, it was worth the money just to see a real mummy. In mine and my husband’s opinions, anyway. 🙂

If you’re looking for something fun and educational to do, inside where it’s nice and cool (bonus!), I would definitely recommend this museum.

Here is a look at our trip (in a nutshell)…

Run, Stace, Run!

IMG_0324

I used to really enjoy jogging, back in the day. Before having kids. When I actually had time…and energy. (At least I think so. I can hardly remember that far back. Ha!)

So, in an effort to “healthify” ourselves and get back into shape, my husband (Mike) and I are getting ready to begin the Couch to 5K running plan. The idea is to transform you from a couch potato to a runner in two months.

I’m very optimistic and so excited to have Mike as a workout partner. I’ll never pass up quality time with the hubs. Although, we’ve never tried jogging together. This will definitely be interesting. 🙂 I’ll keep you posted.

Have any of you participated in this program? I’d love to hear about your experience with it!

(Thanks, Chris and Lisa, for the inspiration!)
