So, hubby and I have finally gotten to a point in our lives where we need to get serious about losing weight. We are just not healthy. Like most people, we have struggled for years, trying to get down to a healthy weight.
Some friends of ours have gone through the Ideal Protein program and have had great success, so we thought we would just dive in and get the ball rolling with not only losing weight, but losing fat as well. Yippee! (Disclosure: Mike is actually doing the Perfect Protein program, which is almost identical. There are only minor differences and the cost is a little less than Ideal Protein, but we have had about the same amount of success so far).
In case you’ve never heard of Ideal Protein, here is a snippet from their website:
The Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method is a medically designed protocol containing 2 key components – weight loss and a healthier lifestyle education to assist you in maintaining your results after dieting. Our protocol has evolved for over 20 years, but was originally developed over 2 decades ago by Dr. Tran Tien Chanh who focused his career and research on nutrition with a particular emphasis on the treatment of obesity and obesity related issues.
I thought that blogging would be a fun way for us to track our progress and success. So, here we are…
I began this program on July 1 and Mike began on July 2. I have to say that I am SO incredibly thankful to have my best friend
suffering through participating in this with me. Otherwise, I don’t know that I would have lasted this long!
For me, the first day was a little difficult, but the second day was brutal. I was an emotional wreck, had a major headache and didn’t know if I would make it. I knew going into this that there would be side affects, but I had no idea that they would start in the first two days!
By the third day, things were MUCH better and have been great ever since. During the first week, Ideal Protein allows you to have an extra protein product while your body adjusts to the program. I did take advantage of that, but after the first week I began to not feel as hungry and have been able to stick with the program as it was intended.
Today is the start of month #2 and I am down 19 lbs and Mike is down 20 lbs. We have both lost inches from our chests, waists, hips and thighs. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself. 😀
I’m looking forward to month #2 and I’ll be sure to share our journey with you all!
Take care and God bless
